A way out of Iraq

The situation in Iraq is getting worse day by day. It is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Despite of the spins and optimistic speeches by President Bush and team, it is obvious that there is a raging civil war going on. Based on the news stories I hear, it looks like Sunni’s are at the losing end of this conflict. The majority Shiites is killing them under the cover of Iraqi Security forces. They need some help to survive. I feel that this is a golden opportunity for USA. USA should ‘protect’ Sunnis in the civil war, and bring up a ruthless Sunni (like Saddam) to be in charge of the whole country. A Sunni dominated Iraq, controlled by a puppet leader, is what USA really wants. It will nicely balance against Shiite dominated Iran, and together with other Sunni dominated countries like Saudi Arabia, Jordan and UAE, it will be a solid front for American interests in the Middle East. Sure, this means throwing democracy out of the window in Iraq. But I am sure most of the world knows by now that democracy in Iraq is a utopian dream!
