Do children, really?

Here is a picture of me and my grandchild taken on the day I found out that my wife had fractured her wrist and needs surgery. We were scheduled to leave for India in five days for a 50 year class reunion and a wedding anniversary celebration. Everything was booked and arranged. Now everything is in jeopardy! You can see the tension on my face. Interestingly the baby also appears to have picked that up! Can babies really sense our mood that quickly? I wonder.

(Luckily everything worked out in the end. Instead of surgery we opted for a cast, and wife made the trip. She has since recovered from her fracture. Turns out that the surgery recommendation was a ploy by the doctor to make some money off the good insurance of my wife!)
