Do not want to miss some good state dinners!

With the polls consistently showing a six to ten point lead over John McCain, and only few days remaining for the election, there is an overall anticipation and acceptance of Barrack Obama becoming the next President of USA. Some, including a few prominent Republicans, have now started to position themselves on the good side of Obama. Hear that President Bill Clinton is now going to campaign with Obama in Florida. Here is a person who until recently used to get all red in the face when asked about Obama’s qualifications to be the next President of USA. Guess he does not want to miss invites to a few fabulous state dinners in the White House!

Float like a butterfly, and sting like a bee!

I enjoy watching the campaign rallies of Barrack Obama (thanks to Youtube). The style of Obama's speeches reminds me of Mohammed Ali, the heavy weight boxer, at his peak. Ali was not known for his heavy knockout punches. But he could dance around his opponent, easily ducking away from the heavy punches, and give stinging jabs in return. Usually by the fifth or sixth round the opponent is so beat up that it would look like he is begging Ali to put him out of his misery. Like Ali, Obama has a way of easily brushing away the accusations of John McCain, and give back smarting retorts. For example, in reply to the memorable barb by McCain in the thiird debate, ‘I am not President Bush. If you wanted to run against President Bush, you should have run four years ago’, Obama has come back with the statement, “I am not blaming McCain for all the mistakes of George Bush. He has supported the policies of Bush only 90% of the time!’ In answer to a question if he was going to start a new negative campaign against McCain, his answer was, ‘we do not throw the first punch; only the last one!’ He concludes his rallies with, ‘George Bush and John McCain are out of ideas, and out of touch with the needs of you people. If you stick with me the next few days, they are going to be out of time!’

Only sixteen more days to go for November 4th. Cannot wait to see Barrack Obama win in a landslide. But I will miss the sheer delight of seeing him campaigning!

Ready to f*** it up again?

Barrack Obama is now well set to win the Presidency of United States on November 4th. Polls show his lead getting closer to 10%, while typically a 4% lead maps into a landslide win. His opponent John McCain has managed to come across as an erratic grumpy old man by his actions and debate performances during the last three weeks. There is no way he can change that impression in the next three weeks, and get the crucial votes of the independents (people who are not registered as Republicans or Democrats). In desperation, McCain campaign is now on a tack of frightening the voters by raising doubts about Obama’s unusual background and name (‘If you want to live, vote for me!’). This will not work, as except for a minority of extremists and racists, nobody is going to believe this. But there is the possibility of some deranged nut-case converting this character assassination into a physical one. I hate to say this – I will not be surprised if this happens. This country has a history of f***ing up a good thing, like it happened with John and Robert Kennedy's. (Apologize the use of an expletive here; but there is no word which can better express my anger and frustration!)

P.S. Hear that Obama is to going to spend the next few days campaigning in Appalachia, a region swarming with gun loving white supremacists. He is violating the basic rule of selling, ‘Shut up after the sale is made’. Hope he does not pay the price!

Vengeance, American style

The all white jury in Las Vegas has found O.J. Simpson guilty of the criminal charges against him for his foolish attempt to recover by force his personal items from some crooks who stole them. There were a total of 12 charges against him, some of them exaggerated, like ‘ 1st degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon’, which the Prosecutor threw in hoping that at least some will stick. But jury had no problem in agreeing to all of them! They worked hard so that the decision could be announced in the night of the 13th anniversary of O.J.’s acquittal for the double murder by a mostly black jury in Los Angeles. Was that a strange coincidence? I doubt it.

P.S. I feel that the jury system in USA is one of the dumbest ways of deciding ones guilt or innocence. It is by no means impartial.

Get ready for a nasty ride!

Despite of the approval of the $700 billion bailout package last Friday, I see a huge meltdown of the US economy starting. It will take years for us (and the rest of the world) to recover from this. There is a small ray of hope that we will ultimately get back to the right path, with Obama as our President . On the other hand, a McCain/Palin election will seal the end of USA as we know it. Mark my words!
